Shantih Journal Issue 2.2 | Page 2

About Shantih Welcome back, readers! We are excited to present our newest issue of SHANTIH Journal. We could not be more proud of the work we are presenting to you. Within this issue, we are thrilled to showcase a sampling of poetry from Ruth Awad’s new book of poetry, Set to Music a Wildfire, which is on sale now through Amazon, Powell’s, and all other participating bookstores. Our incoming managing editor, Shelly Weathers, had chance to interview the poet and gain insight into her craft, the deeper meaning of a selection of her work, and the wonder of dogs. Elsewhere in this issue, our contributors’ work – art, photography, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction – is all about diversity of intent. That is to say, the pieces within this issue examine the motif of peace through the pastoral, while others examine the states of distortion and even acts of destruction. Some pieces are reflective, others turn the observer’s eye to the place where peace should be. In this edition, our writers and artists have taken every measure in the search for an understanding of peace – what it is, what it is not, the consequences of the lack of peace. 2 Here, we offer you beauty, breadth, and a space to breathe both image and word, as we all navigate these strange times together.
