Our mission
To provide our customers with high-quality,
efficient and reliable water, power and sewer
services in a manner that values environmental
and community interests and sustains the
resources entrusted to our care.
Congressman John E. Raker of Manteca sponsored
the Raker Act, a collaborative solution for water use
on the Tuolumne River that allowed for construction of
the Hetch Hetchy Project, a regional water and power
system. In 1913, Congress enacted it, and President
Woodrow Wilson signed it into law. Today, this system
reliably delivers high-quality water to 2.6 million Bay Area
residents, and generates clean hydroelectric energy to
meet the municipal needs of the City and County of
San Francisco.
