The Statements of Revenues, Expenses, and Changes in Net Position show that SFPUC
continues to maintain strong financial health.
13
Our total revenues increased by $437 million or 54% compared to
last fiscal year, which is primarily due to early recovery of past capital
costs from our wholesale water customers, coupled with planned
rates increase and increased water consumption. We continue to
demonstrate strong financial performance in areas that fund capital
improvements and effectively controls operating costs to not
exceed revenues.

2013
Our headquarters at 525 Golden Gate Avenue received official recognition early
this year from the U.S. Green Building Council as LEED (Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design) Platinum, establishing it globally as an exemplary example
of a sustainable and efficient building.
$563M
Our total expenses increased approximately by $21 million or 3% from $785 million in fiscal
year 2011-12 to $806 million in fiscal year 2012-13. Personnel costs reflected growth in
authorized positions due to additional programs and capital projects, and increased benefits,
healthcare and retirement costs. Depreciation and interest expenses increased for capital
assets and associated debt service to fund capital projects.
The Rim Fire is now a part of the history of the SFPUC
and the City and County of San Francisco.
Just as the Great Earthquake of 1906 shaped our
City, the lessons learned from the Rim Fire will shape
future emergency response, operation of this essential
system, and management of our natural resources.
Thank you to the brave firefighters, and to all those
involved with the Rim Fire effort.
