PortMiami is a major economic driver for the Region, supporting 180,000 jobs with a total economic impact of $18.0 billion, which is only expected to increase with the completion of the Panama Canal and new developments designed to sustain and augment trade. PortMiami recently underwent massive renovations to expedite trade from the Port and to accommodate the postPanamax vessels of the future. PORT EVERGLADES • PORT EVERGLADES Holding the first and largest Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in 2nd busiest cruise port in the world, servicing 3.6 million passengers annually. Florida, Port Everglades saw 24.0 million tons of cargo flow through the Port in 2014 with a TEU count of over 1.0 million, an historic high. It is the 11th leading container port in the United States with a yearly economic impact of nearly $26.0 billion worth of business activity supporting over 11,000 local jobs and over 200,000 jobs statewide. Like PortMiami, Port Everglades’ largest trading partners are Central and Latin American countries representing over 50.0 percent of cargo volume. Its post-Panamax expansions include a dredging of 50 feet to accommodate deeper ships and adding five new cargo berths. • PORT OF PALM BEACH While smaller in trade volume to other local ports, the Port of Palm Beach is the fourth busiest container port in the state.
