SEVENSEAS Marine Conservation & Travel Issue 15, August 2016 | Page 7

hat inspired you to pursue your passions? Maybe it was standing in your grandmother’s kitchen watching her cook. Or perhaps walking into a modern art museum for the first time as a teenager. Maybe it was a specific lecture from when you were in university. For me, it was

laying in front of the TV every night as a kid to watch “the animals” with Sir David Attenborough’s familiar voice. It was countless days at the ocean’s edge fishing with my father. It was the realization that every day is a lesson that not be wasted and every creature and every stone had a story to tell.

My love for learning about our natural world only grew as I did with the years- and I truly understood the importance of passing on that knowledge to others, especially as the world became seemingly battered by other pressing needs. When I launched SEVENSEAS last spring it was that goal of open access conservation education which has become so popular and successful since. I am now thrilled to announce the growing relationship between SEVENSEAS and the World Ocean Observatory [worldoceanobservatory.org] where, with our shared goals of furthering ocean literacy and communication, we will continue to inspire and educate all our readers through rich imagery, engaging content, and an underlying conservation message.

We hope you enjoy this issue as we travel from Rio all the way to the Maldives. We ask that you please continue to share this publication and our message with those around you, and we ask that you also teach and inspire others with the love of our natural world. Be that inspiration for others to follow in your footsteps.

Safe travels and happy swimming,
