That said the mother ship stays away from these areas and they use the skiffs to drop you in the middle of the ocean on one of these bommies and you are casting flies over a 60-100 m drop-off standing in waist deep water.
The uncertainty of looking down into the abyss and wondering what is down there and what can come up and grab your fly or even you at any moment adds to the excitement! Will this coral take my weight while standing on the edge fighting a fish, that question came up a couple of times, as the vibration of breaking dead coral can be felt under your wading boots .
The flats are situated on the coast line and on the sand Islands, this is much easier wading but you walk miles in every session. So make sure you wear your Lycra ski pants every day to prevent chafing.
