Dear Fellow Fly Fishers
As a club member I appeal to you to WAKE UP!! I got a wakeup call
from Ian Cox’s post on trout talk of 29 th October 2017 and re-joined
FOSAF, however why do lawyers and club committee members have
to remind us of our obligations?
I am now 62 so my future of active fly fishing is relatively short
spanned let say 10 years – you members will average quite a few
more years.
My general moto has been to TRY and fish at least once a month
whether it is for yellows on the Vaal or trout at Dullstroom.
Of course my favourite is small stream dabbling at Rhodes.
This week I have been privileged to fish the Vaal 4 times - something I have never done but I thoroughly enjoyed it – it was supreme in the late afternoon. I watched the swallows swoop on the mayflies while casually flicking out my menu of Terry Babich’s control fly with a supporting nymph. I only use 2 flies to be different.
So where am I going? – our resources to fish for Trout & Yellows are under severe pressure, DEA declaring Trout an evasive species,
Mining a very real treat and the Vaal becoming a shithole?
