Day 4

We got up about 6 am and left to fish below the Katse Dam Wall. We walked towards the wall for about 2 km, seeing fish on the way and having no luck. It was only at almost the last pool we got fish around 11 am....2 fish...big. They were both caught on San Juan’s worm. Looks like I had the formula, but the fish thought differently. I did notice that once fish were caught in a pool, you had very little chance of catching on that same fly or at all in that pool.

We started to walk back around 2pm, made some lunch and started to fish below the bridge. There were plenty of rises and locals were also fishing ....interesting how they fish....hook, line and mud!

Later afternoon Mike got 1 small fish, again on a San Juan’s worm.

About 5:30 pm we called a day although it only gets dark around 7:30 pm and light around 4:30 am.

With lovely clear sky's we had a braai and then got on to tying some flies for the next day....who would thought that a San Juan’s worm with a strike indicator would do the trick?!

Day 5

We had an early start at 5am - we got up and went down to the Katse dam wall again A good 20 min walk to the fishing hole of the previous day ...second cast and Mike got the first fish of the day.

We fished until 8.30 am and decided to pack up to move down to the river, setting up camp, having a lunch and a well deserved snooze

We had two visitors too - young boys asking for beer or food.

We started fishing again from 4 pm; Mike got 1 fish and lost 2.... I lost 1...

We saw a small snake swim across the river towards us - wildlife sightings are abundant in Lesotho - you just have to look for them. We were lucky with 2 days of lovely weather...no rain.

We ended up having drinks with a couple of guys who were also camping on the river banks.
