Vision & Voice What product are you most excited about for fall 2016? “In fall, we will be launching very eccentric and atypical new stainless steel frames under our house brand Spectacle Eyeworks as well I am adding super funky and fun shapes under our sub-brand RETRO. Further, we will add three new irresistible and alluring cat-eye shapes to our Pussy Galore collection.” Mehran Baghaie, Director and Chief Designer, Spectacle Eyeworks. “I am very excited about the joint venture between Centennial Optical and L’Amy America with the launch of TLG Eyewear. TLG, short for thin, light, glasses, a collection that fills a void in the market for a men’s collection featuring exclusive technology, ultra-thin materials, all at an affordable price. This is a collection that was developed in Canada, by Canadians, and is making a name for itself south of the border.” Linda Mulford-Hum, Director of Product Development, Centennial Optical, Canada. 08 Optical Prism | September 2016 “I am most excited about two John Varvatos optical styles from the Classic Collection, V155 and V156, that emanate the true craftsmanship and rock n’ roll roots of the brand. Inspired by Varvatos’ iconic leather, the frames feature a diamond plate finish; a unique texture finish compared to traditional matte. They are also designed with an extra lightweight block titanium front and beta titanium temples for increased flexibility and comfort. Nicolas Roseillier, Creative Director, REM Eyewear. “We are excited to relaunch the Serengeti Lerici, which was inspired by our classic Wicket frame that was very popular in the '80s. The Lerici is a tribute to both Serengeti’s timeless style and our dedication to constantly improving technology. The slim, full-nylon frame with subtle metal bridge details and Drivers Gradient lenses are perfect for the person whose style takes its cues from the past but has its eyes on the future.” Rene Gerber, Marketing Manager of Eyewear, Bushnell Outdoor Products Canada. “For fall 2016, we are very excited about our new eyewear collection Blaine & Taylor London. This collection originally featured a new take on titanium, by blending titanium with acetate. Now this collection will be blending real wood inserts with acetates. This collection captures the essence of UK fashion and lifestyle. This unisex collection will feature three new models with real wood inserts.” Richard Allan, Vice-President of Sales, Optika Eyewear. “Your patients trust you with their eye health, which includes protecting them from UV and blue light, two topics that can be confusing to them. With this in mind, Essilor created the Eye Protect System, a simple term which certifies that any product with this denomination provides protection from harmful blue light and damaging UV rays, all in an aesthetically clear lens. These latest innovations support our mission of improving lives by improving sight, while setting a new reference of protection for all consumers. Eye Protect System, guaranteed to block at least 20% of harmful blue light and offering a minimum UV protection of E-SPF 25, thanks to Crizal, now includes all Varilux S series lenses, Varilux E series lenses, Transitions and Eyezen+ lenses.” Robert A Menes, Vice-President, Marketing and Communications, Essilor Canada.
