DIAMANTINA WORKS & ROAD REPORT
Construction Crew The construction crew have nearly completed realigning a 2.5km bend at number3 bore on the Diamantina Developmental Road ( Bedourie / Windorah ) using Department of Main Roads RMPC funding . This crew will move on to Eyre Development Road ( Bedourie – Birdsville ) Devils Grid Pave and Seal project .
Gravel Crew The gravel crew has completed gravel resheeting on the Eyre Developmental Road ( Bedourie / Birdsville ) at sun shine flats using Department of Main Roads RMPC funding . This crew will move on to Diamantina Developmental Road ( Bedourie- Windorah ) to fix flood damage at Monkira and grade up to Nayama .
Multi Skilled Crew The multi skill crew has completed the Bedourie Industrial yard fence , Grid installation at Glengyle and they have also completed Grid Installation at the new realignment 2.5km bend at number3 bore on the Diamantina Developmental Road ( Bedourie / Windorah ). They have completed bulk earth works at the Graham Street project , they worked on Birdsville races and they will work on signage installation on Main Roads under RMPC .
Patrol Grader Crew Patrol crew is currently working on Eyre Developmental Road ( Bedourie / Birdsville ) fixing recent rain damage at the Waddi trees and Roseberth . They have completed grading from Birdsville to Stoney Crossing turn-off on Birdsville Developmental Road ( Birdsville- Windorah ).
Road Report Recently we have had good rain all-round the council road network . This made some projects slowdown and delayed for a few days , we have closed all the roads in and out of the Shire .
Current position of the Shire roads :
• Stoney Crossing road closed
• Diamantina – Springvale road is closed as the Diamantina channels still rising
• Diamantina-Davenport closed due to flooding of creeks
• Diamantina – Springvale road is closed due to Diamantina River flooding
• Springvale-Coorabulka , Springvale-Boulia roads are closed due to boggy conditions
Upcoming Projects
• Diamantina Developmental Road ( Bedourie / Windorah ): - Number 3 bore realignment , budget of $ 660,032 funded by Department of Main Roads .
• Eyre Developmental Road ( Bedourie / Birdsville ): - Devils Grid pave and seal , budget of $ 2.4 million funded by Department of Main Roads .
• Big Red Road Birdsville : - Pave and Seal 4km over taking opportunity budget of $ 1.4 million . Funded by Commonwealth Roads to Recovery , Qld Department of Industry , Local Government & Planning and Council .
• Continuation of Shire Road flood damage restoration works .
• Graham Street Short Stay Accommodation Project
• Birdsville Caravan Park Upgrade
• Bedourie Caravan Park Upgrade
• Stage 3 & 4 , Birdsville Streetscape
• Construction of various sheds at depots , Bedourie Gym and Bedourie Hall Shade
