2016 BEDOURIE OUTBACK UTE AND 4WD WAGON MUSTER The annual Bedourie Outback Ute and 4WD Wagon Muster was held in conjunction with the Annual Bedourie Races which is the last lef of the Simpson Desert Racing Carnival. The muster is run at the race course for all those car enthusiasts who come to town for the Races. The year’s event was a special with the major sponsored being Mrs Maggie Den Ronden who sponsored the event in memory of her late husband Adrie, who was the Shires Works Department Overseer. The event was named the Adrie Den Ronden Memorial Bedourie Outback Ute and 4WD Wagon Muster in Adrie’s honour. Although numbers were down due the weather , we still had twenty very keen participants who between them nominated in 34 categories. This alone was a great result and kept the judges ON their toes and gave the viewing public some nice Utes and wagons to look at. The Adrie Den Ronden Memorial Trophy winner was judged out of the nine individual categories winners and the winner with the best overall Ute and who took home Adrie’s trophy was Crocket. This year we also had a first with our local airline REX sponsoring a category just for shire residents. The category was named the Daggiest Ute in the Diamantina and was taken out by our Bedourie Workshop Coordinator, Bill Dillion. Bill won two return tickets to Mt Isa courtesy of REX. The day was great and all the winners were especially happy in collecting their prize money. The prizes were $400 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place and $100 for third place, along with gifts from the shire. The trophies and gifts were presented to all the place getters by the Mayor and Lady Mayoress of the shire, Cr Geoff and Mrs Bev Morton. The day would not have been a success without our sponsors: Diamantina Shire Council, Mrs Maggie Den Ronden, George Bourne and Associates, Hastings Deering and Rex Regional Airlines. We look forward to having them all on board again when we hold the 2017 Bedourie Outback Ute and 4WD Wagon Muster next year at the Bedourie Race Course.
