Here are a few common fitness mistakes to be aware of before you begin this journey.

1. Do away with the latest fad diets. They don't work. Learn to eat good wholesome foods.

2. Doing too much cardio. You need a balanced workout. Weights, cardio and core work. If this is an area you struggle in hire a trainer to show you some things or join group fitness classes.

3. Cutting out carbs. I've seen this too often and the truth is you can't cut out carbs because they are in everything. The smart thing to do is watch the type of carbs you eat. Stick with complex carbs, sweet potato and brown rice for example. These carbs are slower digesting than simple (white flour) carbs.

4. Not eating enough food. People actually think that starving them selves will help them lose faster. Wrong. What happens is your body goes into starvation mode and holds on to everything you want to release.

5. Measuring your journey against someone else. You're looking at magazines and TV not knowing what those people have access to or if it's even healthy. Fast weight loss is not happy weight loss. Do you want to do this as a life style change or keep using temporary things to fuel your motivation?

6. Being inconsistent. The ONLY way this will work is to understand it won't be easy and it won't be over night. Change your thinking to life style and not the

microwave mentality that most of us have become accustomed to.
