It’s Never to Late to Get Your Self Together!

When you’re in your 20’s you feel as though you have all the time in the world to get your self together. By your 30’s you still feel that you have some time left to get your self together. It’s not until you hit your 40’s that you begin to take a hard, long look at your life and realize that time is running out for you to get yourself together. Then panic sets in.

Whether you are in your 40’s 50’s 60’s or beyond it is NEVER too late to get your self together! Can someone please tell me who decided that there is a cutoff date for when you should have it all together? News flash! You will never have it all together. The truth is there will always be some part of your life that you have to work on. Remember no one has it all together, but as long as you are working everyday to get to where you would like to be, you’re making progress. You will never accomplish what you desire if you have not made up in your mind to put in some hard work. Nothing worth having in life comes easy.

I know some people will try to make you feel that you have to live up to their definition of having it all together. Please do not allow people to pressure you into being someone that you are not. If you do, you will become a people pleaser and trust me, you will never be able to please those types of people. People who want you to live by their standards will always find something wrong in what you’re doing. That’s because they are not satisfied with their own lives and want to pressure you into doing what they lack the courage to do.

Part of getting yourself together may mean that you are going to have to release some people from your life. That can be a very difficult process depending on the

relationship, but a necessary one if you are trying to move forward. Sometimes people get intimidated when they see you changing so don’t be surprised by the negative responses you may receive. Stay focused and keep moving forward.

As you embark upon the journey of getting yourself together, put together a plan. What is it that you are trying to achieve? What steps must you take to get there? Should you reach out to someone for help? If you have someone that you trust and you know they have your best interests at heart, it might be a good idea to let them know your plans and act as your accountability partner. But remember, it has to be someone who really wants to see you succeed.

Whatever you do, don’t give up. There will be times when you feel that the change is not happening fast enough or maybe you get off course and want to throw in the towel. Don’t. Cut yourself some slack and get back to your plan. In the end it will be well worth all the hard work you put in.

I would love to know how you’re doing. Please email me at: [email protected].

Until next time,

Shawntrice
