You may find it amusing to know where I got the inspiration to write this month’s article. I went round and round in my head on what to say, how I should say it and who I should say it to. I wrote and scrapped drafts until finally, it happened. I recently started working for a different company and as part of my training, I had to watch a motivational video. The speaker in the video said ten words that let me know I was on the right track for this month’s topic. Those ten words were: “Get over it, so you can get on with it.”

Have you ever heard someone complain or sulk about the issues of their life so many times that you just wanted to shake them and yell GET OVER IT!

I have friends, family members and acquaintances that I have wanted to say this to. I have encountered so many people, especially women, who constantly complain about things that they lack, from finances and education to a significant other and home ownership. Honey, get over it, so you can get on with it!

Life happens! Everyone experiences hardships and difficulties. Living through those moments bring strength and growth. Living through those moments develops wisdom.

I understand that it can be challenging and heartbreaking to experience divorce, job loss, continuous denial of jobs, failing grades, relationship break-ups and many other things. Wallowing in the experience and blaming others will not help you transition to the next chapter of your life. Grieving is natural as well and can be mentally and emotionally healthy, BUT…eventually some forward movement needs to happen.
