of property rights and increased produc
tivity " was the congress theme of Agri Northwest
for 2017. Johannes Moller, Omri van Zyl and
Annelize Crosby of Agri SA, as well as judge Antonie
Gildenhuys, addressed the leading producers from
the Northwest province. Annelize gave the following
advice to Agri NW members:
• Choose your organisation with care and give it
your full support;
• Don't be thrown off track by politicising, scary
stories and half truths;
• Be informed;
• Be proactive;
• Build relationships at all levels.
A number of resolutions were adopted, which
included: regular and direct communication with
members; influencing of government policy to pro
mote certainty in respect of property rights; encour
agement of private right of ownership of communal
land; support of a land reform plan which has a
stable and viable agri-sector as objective. Further
resolutions included the improvement of alertness
and safety on the farm yard; investigation into the
establishment of an Agricultural Bank and support
for Agri SA's "smart-disaster assistance plan”. It was
a privilege for Senwes to be involved with this indus
