Senwes Grainlink welcomes director with a visit to silo

The new independent non-executive director of Senwes , Simon Mohapi , on top of Senwes Grainlink Viljoenskroon Silo .

This follows Mr Mohapi ’ s appointment to the board as an independent non-executive director during Senwes ’ AGM on Friday , 26 August 2016 , where James Botha , Nico Liebenberg and Thabo van Zyl were also re-elected as directors of Senwes .

During the visit Silo Manager , Nico Janse van Rensburg , went through the various grain flow processes with Simon , from grain sampling to drying and aeration . “ It was brilliant , informative and an all-round great experience for me ,” said Mr Mohapi . He added that it made him aware of the fact that grain handling and storage was really a business unit on its own .

Simon Mohapi was born on 7 July 1956 in Sophiatown and was raised in Soweto , where he attended St Martins , a private Catholic primary school . He matriculated from Morris Isaacson High School in 1975 . 60 year old Simon is a family man and has been married to Anna for 34 years . They have three children , Neo , Keletso and Tshepang .
Simon has more than 30 years ' experience in the financial services industry . He is one of the founders of the Mohapi Group , FSP722 , a category II licence holder by the Financial Services Board ( FSB ) as Financial Advisors and Investment Managers . This company has a track record of 17 years and also provides trustee training with a special focus on funding governance and investments . He is the chairman and independent trustee of Carefree Life Retirement Annuity Fund , an independent trustee of Absa Trust Beneficiary Fund and an independent trustee of the North West University Investment Committee ( Discretionary Fund ).
He is an Associate Financial Planner ( AFP ) with the Financial Planning Institute ( FPI ). He holds a diploma in Investment Management from Rand Afrikaans University ( RAU ), now UJ , a graduate diploma in Company Direction ( NQF7 ) with special focus on corporate governance , strategic management , risk management , financial markets and financial management via the Institute of Directors ( IoD ) in collaboration with the Graduate Institute of Management & Technology ( GIMT ).
Simon is a qualified facilitator and assessor with ETDP-SETA and has passed the Financial Services Board ( FSB ) Regulatory Exams in Key Individuals ( RE1 ), Discretionary ( RE3 ), and Representatives ( RE5 ) He provides market updates , macro-economics , investment news , and consumer education witha focus on BBBEE share schemes and the retirement funds for SABC TV and radio stations on ad hoc-basis Simon ’ s motto “ to never ever give up and always see things through to the end ” and “ always plan effectively and remember to live your dream ”. He is looking forward to his role at Senwes where he will keep an eye on corporate management and will be fulfilling a supervisory role . Simon has been appointed in place of Ms Zarina Bassa , who resigned after a five- year term as director . We wish Simon well during his tenure at Senwes .
