What do you do and what are your duties?
I am a broker at Kroonstad.
How has your career progressed?
I have been a broker for the past 18 years.
Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born in De Aar and grew up in Alberton and
Kroonstad.
Where were you schooled?
Laerskool Elandia in Dinwiddie and Afrikaanse
Hoërskool in Germiston. I then moved to Afrikaanse
Hoërskool Kroonstad.
What did you do directly after school?
I wanted to become a medical doctor, but went to the
army first…
How do you see your future within the company?
I am privileged to be part of a dynamic team, where
the client comes first.
What advice would you give your client?
Be honest and disclose all facts. Look wider than just
the premium.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy cycling and I am a rugby coach.
Family?
I married Ansophie in 2000 and we have a daughter,
Anricke (12).
How do you see the insurance industry in 2016?
The market will be stricter. The proverbial extra mile
will ensure retention of clients.

What do you do and what are your duties?
I do short-term and crop insurance.
How has your career progressed?
Experience is very valuable in this industry and my
colleagues add a lot of value.
Where were you born and where did you grow up?
Born and bred in Kroonstad.
Where were you schooled?
Sentrale Volkskool and Blue High School (Blouskool).
What did you do directly after school?
After two years of military service I went to Agricultural College in Potchefstroom, after which I
farmed with my father from 1981 to 2000.
How do you see your future within the company?
Our primary business is agri-business. Excellent relationships with the largest insurers will ensure that we
keep up with the fast-changing agricultural environment.
What advice would you give your client?
Deal with a role player with substance in the insurance industry, such as the Certisure / Senwes affiliation.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy hiking and a half-marathon occasionally. I also
like cooking.
Family?
I am married to Riëtte for 31 years. We have four
children, Jan (27), Juli (25), Ranie (23) and Cornelis
(20).
How do you see the insurance industry in 2016?
El Niño wreaked havoc and clients will be under financial pressure. Insurers we deal with will have to be
kept informed of the needs of our clients. We must
ensure that our clients will still be our clients when
the situation becomes more favourable, hopefully by
next year.
