•••• CO L U M N PHOTO: LEEF What is a meaningful life?? MILANIE VOSLOO I n his book, Everyday Greatness, Stephen R. Covey writes that people living large have made three important decisions. They do something and are proactive, they are committed to something meaningful and they live according to a set of timeless and universal principles. Principles such as vision, innovation, integrity, respect, discipline, humaneness, quality, empathy, tenacity and balance. Principles which motivate you to live differently and to live a meaningful life every day - a life of abundance and happiness. Your life is also based on principle pillars. Only you know whether and if it works for you, but more so, only you can decide every day how you would like to live the rest of your life. Naturally the Word helps us with this, as reflected in 2 Peter 1*, where we read the following: • Always try to do the right things only. • Make sure that you know the Lord. • Self-control goes hand in hand with knowledge. • Self-control goes hand in hand with steadfastness. • It goes hand in hand with a life which glorifies God. • A life which glorifies God goes hand in hand with absolute loyalty towards other believers. • Love for other believers goes hand in hand with the desire to really care for every person you have to deal with every day. Principles can never be feigned or displayed since it is what and who you are. Your decisions are embodied in your every-day life. It determines how you think, love and what you do, irrespective of your circumstances. Should you feel that you really want to but you fail to live according to the correct principles, not unlike me, please know that our Father does not expect us to do it alone. He knows our human erring and would like to help us to live a life of abundance through good principles. May you have the courage to strive towards a meaningful and abundant life every day - based on the right foundation. Spirit of God – thank you that I can be different, through You. Different in Your truth and living an abundant life through You. *From: Die Boodskap – abridged and adjusted. 56 DEC 2016/JAN 2017 • SENWES Scenario Win Join Milanie Vosloo on her walk to peace and the God of joy.
