it as Fable farm ) where she often spends time with her oldest son Frank and his wife Monica and their twin sons . Frank is now running the family ’ s dairy farm with sons Jerry and Jamie .
“ Even though I live in an apartment in town I still go to the farm and spend time with my son , his wife , and my grandkids ,” she said smiling . Photos of her grandkids are proudly displayed on her fridge .
Her second son Chuck and his wife Cindy and their family live in Orono so they are not as close in terms of distance , but “ I do see them often ,” she said .
“ I ’ m sure gramps and great grampa who started all this would be very proud of what the boys have accomplished .”
Farm life :
Talking about her childhood growing up on a farm with her three sisters and two brothers , Faye commented , “ My parents worked very hard over those years to raise their family and we were poor but that didn ’ t bother us because everyone seemed to be poor in those times . We all had our little jobs to do after school to help out , which was probably good for us and at least we all learned we had to work .”
She went to high school for a couple of years then got a job at the old woolen mill here in town working as a weaver and boarded with her sister Iva .
Faye met her husband-to-be when her folks moved from the farm into Campellford and their neighbours , the McKelvies , soon became friends . “ They had a pretty nice son Bill ,” said Faye with a twinkle in her eye . “ He and I hit it off , we both loved going to shows and to dance and we did a lot of that . We were married in 1947 ,” said Faye reminiscing . Bill was called to the army and when he returned home after the war they bought a farm on the 9th Concession Seymour .
“ I always said when I was growing up I would never marry a farmer ( too much work ) but I have lived to be 90 and am still enjoying life ,” she added with a grin .
Faye is a big proponent of the seniors ’ club and what it has to offer .
“ If you are alone and get lonely come and join the seniors ’ club and take part in all the fun we enjoy ,” she said .
“ I have a wonderful family but I also have many senior friends and feel that I am richly blessed ,” she concluded .
