It has been a year already since I became the president of Campbellford Seniors club. The executive committee has worked tirelessly helping make our club a success. As I mentioned, the month of August was a tough period due to the club being closed for three weeks. A few events needed to be canceled. We managed to get back on track so our members can enjoy our club during the fall and winter months. We had our annual Christmas party on November 23 with a total 86 members attending. Betty Wickman catered us with an awesome meal. After the dinner, Keene Country band played non stop music for a few hours. They were very entertaining. From what I’ve been hearing, everyone enjoyed their music. We are looking forward to next year’s Christmas dinner. This year we have signed up several new members and our club is growing stronger. We always welcome new members. We are still hopeful some will volunteer to be a convenor. We definitely need more convenors to help our club run the events. I look forward to implementing more games and functions. One of the new events created is the friendship club. It meets every Tuesday at 11:00 to 12:30. This friendship club is not only about talking about the loss of a spouse. They also do different crafts while talking and sharing. I’m going to learn how to knit with them. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the convenors and volunteers that have made 2017 a great success. Our new custodian is doing an amazing job making sure our club is kept clean and tidy. Soup and sandwich day is still going strong which is held the first Wednesday of every month. The breakfast with the president is just as strong and is usually held the last Saturday of the month. There will be elections coming up in January, 2018. The elections will be for the position of recording secretary, 1st vice president, membership & events coordinator. I believe we have had a successful year with new and fun events in 2017. Hopefully, 2018 will be even better. Thank you all for your continued support. John Mancini, President 3
