Chera
Ministry Coordinator:
Patsy Clark ([email protected])
God has promised, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
Chera (pronounced Ke-Ra) is the Greek word for “widowed” or “bereft.” Our mission
is to reach out to those who have lost a spouse and offer the comfort which comes from
God. Healing after the death of a spouse is a long-term process. It has been suggested
that it can take up to two years to give ourselves time to mourn and grieve. Chera exists
to offer that long-term, ongoing support. Our members contact the newly-widowed to
provide support by listening and offering friendship individually as well as meeting in
small groups. Twice a year, in the spring and the fall, Chera members are the guests of
the Elders and Deacons to share a brunch and fellowship. We invite you to join us.
The Chera Ministry is why we can say, with confidence, “The Lord is my Helper; I will not
be afraid” (Hebrews 13:5b-6).
