When you are in balance, negative topics and issues have very little impact and do not upset your sense of well-being. The change process involves creating a sense of gratitude and pointing out all the things to be grateful for each day. This shifts your general perspective in a positive direction and prevents any tipping points. In a sense, you protect yourself from the negativity of others and don’t buy into negative cycles.

When you are balanced to the positive, you learn to love life and place yourself in an open, receptive state. You start to reinforce each part of your current reality that you love, which perpetuates positive movement away from negative circumstances, people, and environments. This mind-over-matter state shifts you into a mental state of getting exactly what you want. And what could be better than that?

Shifting perspective on a broader spectrum than the green lights example given in the book Mind Over Matter, takes time and dedication to mindfulness or self-awareness. Most of us are well aware of areas in our lives that are not working as well as what we would like. Shifting our focus or general perspective from negative to positive begins with the desire to create a change, whether it has a small or large impact on your current reality. Removing all blame of others and yourself and focusing on the desired result, puts you in a mind-set or mind-overmatter state that facilitates the desired change.

It may be necessary to affirm this process many times to shift your GP into the balanced state, as seen in the previous illustration. But if it is truly what you desire, then building the perspective for the desired changes is a labor of love in that it creates a joyful life with less stress and increased longevity.
