LININGS EXPLAINED
Linings enhance the beauty and fullness of any drapery product along with protecting the face fabric from the destructive effects of the sun , thus adding years to the life of the custom product .
LININGS Our standard lining , Chateau Sateen , is a premium high thread count , 50 % polyester , 50 % Cotton . It is a blended warp sateen with a water repellent , crease resistant finish . It is included with styles requiring lining and ordered with lining . Available in White or Ivory , the color must be specifed .
Optional linings are available and must be specifed at the time of the order . In the Fabric Index any lining marked as “ S ” is available as a substitute for the standard Chateau Sateen lining . Any premium lining shown with a price group number is to be priced as an alternate lining from that price group .
BLACKOUT LINING Blackout linings can be troublesome . Not only will the stitch holes be visible in the sunlight , but the black fibers from the blackout material may “ pull through ” at the hemlines , which can be very noticeable especially on light colored fabrics . Blackout 2 pass foam products have 2 layers , or passes , of acrylic foam . Typically , the bottom layer is black and the top layer is white or beige . The black foam will show through the fabric creating a gray appearance on the back of the fabric . This product is used as a lining with the gray side to the inside of the drape . The 3 pass products have 3 layers of foam – white , black , and white or beige on top . The 3 pass product can be used as a lining or as a free standing drapery panel .
INTERLINING Interlining , an available option , is a 100 % cotton flannel-like fabric that is placed between the face fabric and regular lining . Its purpose is to keep the color of alternate lining from showing through ( sometimes referred to as Bleeding ) to the face fabric , as well as providing protection from the elements . The Interlining option is available on certain styles and is limited to six widths of fabric and 90 ” length per panel . Two types of Interlining are available . Refer to the style specific section that contains pricing to determine the necessary Interlining surcharge .
SELF-LINED “ Self-lined ” simply means that the face or main fabric will be used as the lining .
ALTERNATE LINING Many drapery fabrics may be used in place of standard linings , hence - Alternate Lining . It typically is an option resulting in an additional surcharge . Refer to the style specific page to determine if it is an available option . An Alternate Lining must be compatible with the face fabric , that is , it needs to be of the same width , fiber content and construction as the face fabric . Refer to the style specific sections for Alternate Lining pricing .
