BOWSER GRABS THE CHECKERS AGAIN IN MINI CUPS

Hugh Bowser came back to Victory lane in his rookie season, grabbing another win in a race which saw but one change in leadership as he passed Michael Cooper for the lead on lap two, then held on for the rest of the 12-lap feature for his second win on the season.

Nicholas Frechette led off from the pole with Cooper on his shoulder. Cooper took the front after a brief exchange with Frechette and Bowser got past Cooper after some contact. Bowser settled in on Cooper’s bumper with Zachary Levesque climbing into third.

Late in the second circuit, Hugh forged past into the lead, leaving Frechette in second with Levesque poised behind him.

Lap three saw Cooper take an ailing car to the pits as the race continued and Bowser worked his way out to a four-car lead over Frechette. But the lead wavered in lap five as Frechette began closing the gap. He slowly cut into Bowser’s comfort zone and finally had it down to one carlength with two laps remaining.

But Bowser had some pedal left and kept the spacing the same, jetting under the Checkers with on car length back to second. Frechette grabbed the runnerup spot, followed by Levesque and Ava Chouinard
