The Saturday night season is coming to a close and with just two races remaining and many of the point leaders continued their dominance this week.
In the Pro Stocks, David Darling continues to dominate the field and there is no one even close to his speed on the third-mile oval. Darling started eighth but was at the front before anyone could even blink. His No. 52 has been the fastest car in the division since Opening Day and he will be on his way to another championship this season.
His fifth title will rank him up even higher with some of the best the track has to offer in its history. We will see if he can seal the deal over the next two weeks, but with the points lead he has, it shouldn’t be difficult. He has now been to Victory Lane in the last two races in the division.
The Late Model division also saw the points leader continue his dominance on Saturday night. Ryan Lineham captured his fourth victory of the season behind the wheel of the No. 1, which is a backup car to Nick Uring. Early this season, Lineham and Uring teamed up and they decided that Lineham would run the car part-time. However, since they had immediate success, Lineham made the decision to leave the No. 48 Pro Stock and attempt to capture the Late Model championship.
It’s looking like his decision to do that was the right one. Lineham has been the fastest car many times this year and his fourth victory puts him with nearly a full race lead in the championship standings heading for the final two weeks. The former Sportsman champion is looking to visit the head table for the second time in his career.
The Sportsman race on Saturday night saw Ryan Flood take down his second career victory in the No. 98. Flood worked his way to the front early in the race and ran second, but he wasn’t going to catch Tommy Adams without a caution flag. He never got one, since the race went from green to checkered without incident. However, a post-race technical infraction for Adams, took away the victory. This is now the second time that Adams won a race and had it taken away because of a technical infraction. Scott Bruneau continues to be well on his way to the championship.
In the Seekonk Sports Trucks, Ed Perry was finally able to breakthrough and capture his first ever win in the division. Perry has been fast at times this year, but has definitely not had the luck he had been looking for up until Saturday night. While Perry captured his first win, Chase Belcher finished fifth and will hold just a few point lead over Mike Duarte heading for the final two races of the season. That battle should be close right down to the wire.
