Saturday night, the Sports Trucks took center stage with the 30 lap Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Series finale. Chase Belcher was set for battle against three other drivers for the Triple Crown championship and in the end, Belcher came out on top. The driver of the Everett’s Auto Parts No. 81 put himself at the top of the field at lap 25 on the outside of Ed Perry. Once he got out front, Belcher was gone from the rest of the field.
Perry put on a great show while leading the race behind his No. 00 while he was fighting Belcher in the final stages. Perry has been getting better each week with his truck and last night things finally came together for him. In the final laps, Perry held off Barry Shaw for second position. Shaw came home third, with David Simpson putting together a career best fourth.
In the 25 lap Sportsman feature, Scott Serydynski Sr. came out on top after a thrilling battle in the final circuits. The Sportsman division continues to put on one of the best shows each week and they have some of the best racing in New England. Serydysnki took the lead on lap 22 after a thrilling battle with some of his top challengers. Multiple cautions flew in the final laps, but when it was all over, Tom Adams came home in second. Jesse Melberg had a strong run behind the wheel of his No. 32, coming home in third.
The 40 lap Pro Stock feature was one of the best we have seen at Seekonk Speedway in recent memory. Early on, Ryan Vanasse and David Darling quickly worked their way to the front from their inside starting positions. Once they got to first and second, Tom Scully Jr. and Fred Astle came alive and got inside the top four. Before long, the four of them were going at it hard for the race lead in the final laps. Scully Jr. and Astle got together a few times, but Astle was able to wheel the outside lane all the way up to the race for the lead in the final laps.
However, Vanasse was a little bit stronger and was able to capture his second win of the season behind the wheel of his Ocean State Oil No. 11. Oddly enough, the Shriners were in town last night as well. Vanasse always seems to find his way to Victory Lane when the Shriners are in town and last night was no different. Congrats to the entire Team V Racing crew on another victory.
In the 35 lap Late Model race, Nick Uring and Jeramme Lille came down to the final laps battling hard for the race lead. Uring has been struggling at times this season, but last night, they hit the numbers right on the money. He has been fighting hard to visit the winner’s circle and he was able to seal the deal last night. Lille came home with a strong second place run, while Austin Blais was able to come home with a solid third. Vinny Arrenegado and Ryan Lineham, the points leader, rounded out the top five.
