How would you describe the 2017 season so far?

Brendon: It’s been up and down this season that’s for sure. We have a new car and we have been working out the kinks to figure it out. After a wreck in week one we have had to replace everything from the seat back and have been trying to get back to where the car was when we first took it out the first week. We are going in the right direction, but we just aren’t there yet. I want to better than last year.

How does it feel to get your first Sportsman win? What do you hope to accomplish with the rest of the season?

Ryan: It feels awesome, (Ryan’s crew chief Joe added that it was rewarding!) that the 4 years of hard work Joe and I have put in and the work from Gerry and everyone here in the past 2 years, it’s just rewarding. I’d like to stay consistent and hopefully get another win or two in there, keeping up with the hard work. I’m hoping to get most improved driver, that’s my goal this year. I would also like to win the Triple Crown that I’m in contention for this year.

What racing memory is most important to you?

Gerry: I have two. The night I won my first championship; I pulled in (to victory lane) and they had championship shirts made, and my old man was wearing a 2003 Championship shirt. It was wicked cool and I had no idea they had the shirts made. Sr. met me at the window (of the car) and he was as excited as anything I can even remember. The second would have to be I think it was maybe 2006 when I won my 2nd championship and Bryce was there. Those are the two actual racing memories that mean the most to me.

Brendon: For me it would have to be working on Gerry’s car when he got his 50th win. There is also the first race I ever worked on Gerry’s car he won too, that is another important memory.

Ryan: I have to say my first win. That’s all the accomplishments I have right now.

What one word would you use to describe racing at Seekonk Speedway?

Gerry: Adventure.

Brendon: Interesting.

Ryan: Challenging.

Team 71 is very much like a family. They have their inside jokes and all poke fun at each other, but at the end of the day they are always there to help one another out. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the 2017 Season has in store for all 3 drivers, but I especially hope that the drive for 8 plays out in Gerry’s favor.
