The laps of the season are winding down, and like the racing has been this year, it is going to get tight and fun as we wind down. There is still a lot of action left on the schedule. Take this week for example; we have a 65 lap feature for the Pro Stocks. It is their finale for the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown Championship. Four drivers are in the fight for the title going into this event.

The Late Models will have the remainder of their Crab Manchester Memorial 50 lap feature. We got 2 laps in this past week before Mother Nature surprised us with some heavy mist that came through. Kudos to the track for trying to wait it out and trying, but it just wasn’t going to be. Some things you just can’t beat.

The Sportsman division has a 30 lap main event, with the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Power Five event. The Sport Trucks will compete in a weekly 25 lap main event. That’s a lot of racing for the night

But that’s not all we have for you on the schedule. WHAT???? You say? That’s right. There’s more.

It is our yearly Fans on Parade. It’s a chance for all of our fans to take center stage and show their support for their favorite driver. It doesn’t matter who your favorite is or what division he runs in. Mini Cups, Bandoleros, Legends, Sport4, Pure Stocks, Sport Trucks, Sportsman, Late Models or Pro Stocks.

They say it takes a village, and it has seemed over the years that some groups bring in two or three of them. Like and championship fight, there is always one they are chasing to become the overall champion. Over the past decade, there has been one team that has continuously set the bar and been the one to beat. Team Brightman. Over the families career here at Seekonk, which goes back to day one, they continue to bring a strong fan base week after week. And on this night, they come out and shine. Can anyone beat them?

Kevin Casper and his group have come close, but has not been able to overtake them. Will this be the year? I received a text from one driver’s mother that is putting together something for the Fans on Parade this year. It will be their first foray into this event. Anyone else want to join?

Did you watch that Sportsman race last week? It was, to me, one of the most exciting Sportsman feature I can ever remember, and I’ve been around for at least a few weeks.

Ryan Flood and Scott Serydynski raced for the lead as absolutely hard as you could. They races bumper to bumper and side by side. While the duo raced as hard as they could, they each showed a ton of respect for each other too. There was one time when Scott got into Ryan going into turn one, and when Ryan got sideways, Scott backed off and let him get it back under control before he tried to jump back into the fight. And what a fight it was. There were several back and forth crossovers, a lot of side by side racing and what looked like a lot of fun.

In the end, Scott Serydynski picked up the win by a car length over Flood. Unfortunately, Ryan’s car didn’t pass the post-race tech, costing him the Phil’s Propane Triple Crown, but he was just as gracious online as he was in his post-race interview.

Picking up the Triple Crown is Chad Baxter. Chad is running his rookie season, and the Triple Crown title in his first year is very impressive.

Rob Murphy returned to the Sport Trucks last week, and he hasn’t lost his touch in that division. He and John Paiva worked their way through the field toward the front of the pack, with Rob winning the event.

Fred Astle finally found his way to Everett’s Auto Parts Victory Lane with his first win of the season. The race went green to checker and in the end, the six time champion beat point leader Dave Darling by several car lengths. Freddy has been struggling most of the season, but over the past few weeks, he has been getting closer and closer to being where he needs to be. This might just be the turnaround he was looking for.

Back to what is left for the season. Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about one of the biggest shows of the season coming up next week, Aug. 26th. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour rolls into the Bay State for their only event here, and if last year’s race is any indication, this will be a can’t miss event.

Tim Solomito visited Seekonk for the first time last year and learned quickly how to navigate the 1/3 mile oval, taking home the win. It was the second win for Flamingo Motorsports here at Seekonk, winning with Chris Kopek previously.

This event is also scheduled to be televised through NBC Sports on a tape-delay basis.

Out second on track Fan Meet and Greet will kick off the month of September, giving our fans a chance to get up close and personal with the Stars and Cars of The Action Track of the East.

Don’t forget our Fast Friday action. This past week, we saw some great side by side racing for the win in the Sport4 and Pure Stock classes. Joran Lopes edged AJ Manual for the win in the 25 lap Sport4 Phil’s Propane Triple Crown finale, with Manual claiming the Triple Crown title.

The Pure Stocks saw Dylan Cabral and Colby Lambert race wheel to wheel over the final laps with Cabral taking the checkers, but after post-race tech, Lambert was awarded his third consecutive win. It was an exciting race to watch between these two young drivers. Like I said, the laps are winding down.
