The constant grouse of every fashionable SL guy looking to hone his sartorial flair has always been the meager selection of stylish men’s clothing available on the grid. “Men’s fashion will likely be always behind the evolution of
women’s fashion,” said Poe Cross, the co-owner of Unkindness and 7Mad;Ravens. A self-confessed T-shirt and jeans guy, Cross looks forward to the day
when he can, “help be part of that growth [in menswear fashion].” Cross —
like many menswear designers — have been waiting for the right moment to
“bring ideas and projects to the table.”
Recently, a release on The Mesh Project’s Mesh Kit was said to be changing
the face of SL men’s fashion, steering it into a brighter future. The Mesh
Project (TMP) is but, of course, one of SL’s pioneers in female and male mesh
bodies, featuring a model-esque style and physical appearance. In the past,
fashion creators weren’t able to get their hands on TMP Mesh Kits — namely
design
templates for third party designers to mesh clothing and
accessories compatible with TMP’s mesh bodies. A privilege
reserved for only established SL designers whom TMP reviewed before
granting access to their exclusive builders’ kits, the Mesh Kits are now available to all — hoorah!
Calling all budding (and established) menswear designers, we hope you’re
reading this because the moment is: Now.
