GOLF IS HIS PASSION During one of their coffee night outings after work, Mr. Alfred, his best friend, thought of relaxing after a hard day work by playing golf. They got hooked and never turned their backs from it. Mr. Loh started to play the sport from 2001 and met people, who later on became their friends too, who have the same passion for the game. They play locally and travelled to play in Malaysia, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia and just recently to Laos. WORK EXPERIENCES The path for being the man that he is now is not easy for him. During the early days of his career, he was in and out of Changi Prison frequently! Not for any criminal offence of course, but as a Project in-charge of building the Male and Female Changi Prison. Mr. Loh left his family behind to work in Brunei and Malaysia. He built chalets, bungalow houses and hangars for the Royal Family of Brunei. He was also responsible for building the terminal in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. In 1999, he was recommended by Mr. Alfred Wong, his best friend to join Utraco. His first successful mega project back then was the HDB Headquarters in Toa Payoh. After that, in October 2004, he left Utracon and joined an Indonesian mining company. According to him, it was one of the most memorable because has to endure homesickness, rotating job, language barrier and different rest days off. Mr. Loh decided to come back to Singapore. "Home is where the heart is" was true after all because he decided rejoined Utracon in September 2005 after his stint in Indonesia. ACHIEVEMENT AND SATISFACTION For Mr. Loh, there is no greater feeling than achievement and satisfaction after completion of every project he handled. For him, being able to build something from a piece of bare land is a major achievement. The satisfaction from his clients who were delighted with the outcome of every project he handled is an achievement for him. He is a true testament of dedication, loyalty and hard work when he was awarded 10 years Long Service Award last April during our Annual Dinner. With all his extensive experiences in life and work, he hopes to continue to share the learning and knowledge he gained throughout his 30 years of working experience with the younger generation.
