Bulldogs

Class Analysis:

The Bulldogs probably have one of the best RB classes in the East, if not the SEC. This class is headlined by five star RB’s Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. At first it seemed strange that the Bulldogs took two RB’s in this cycle, but considering both Gurley and Marshall will be draft eligible next year, it was a good choice by Mark Richt.

The Bulldogs focused on filling their needs during this recruiting cycle up to this point. Despite losing their entire defensive staff during the offseason, the Bulldogs didn’t lose a single player. The defensive side is led by four star defensive tackle Lamont Galliard and four star CB Malkom Parrish. Given that the Bulldog defense was far from impressive, struggling with both pass and rush defense, Coach Richt has brought in a good group to try and counteract that in the coming season.

On the offense, Jacob Park will help bring depth to the quarterback position, which loses a legendary passer in Aaron Murray. The Bulldogs will also be without reliable tight end, Aaron Lynch, but they have brought in a good replacement in Jeb Blazevich.

By snagging Carter, UGA has addressed a vital need on the defensive line, considering the Bulldogs have not had the best pass rush from the D-Line recently.

While Mark Richt has been able to develop talent at the linebacker position, his teams have been lacking a dominant D-lineman in recent years, and Carter will provide an immediate answer to that problem. While Carter might not be the biggest DE in football, he is a very versatile player that could line up at DE, or as a LB, even with Pruitt from a 3-4 to a 4-3 base defense. He also has a good bit of speed, clocking in a 4.63 in the 40 yard dash.

Jeb Blazevich is the pick here. With the Bulldogs losing Aaron Lynch this year, they will need a solid replacement, and with his frame, Blazevich is capable of stepping in and doing just that.
