“First of all, the beautiful SPA area
on two levels with state-of-the-art health
and beauty features and panoramic ocean
views. Second, the new layout of the aft
lido with a stunning ocean view and improved sun space,” he says.
“Last but not the least, the Spray Park
for children – a real plus which I am sure
will give a lot of fun to the little ones.”
Pressed for a personal favourite,
Messina chooses the new aft lido layout
with open ocean view, large sun space and
elevated jacuzzi pools.
“There you can really enjoy your time
and relax,” he says.
BIG SHIP, SMALL CUSTOMERS
The Project Manager admits, however, that
when it comes to families with children,
Spray Park – an innovative water park for
children – is hard to beat. Also in general,
Messina believes that the small customers – and their parents – are becoming
more and more important for the cruise
business.
“Families continue to be a growing
part of the cruise scene, and this is particularly true with a contemporary cruise
line like Carnival, which specialises in Caribbean cruises of different lengths, and has
a relatively young guest demographic.”
As a result, new features are constantly studied and developed to ensure
that the cruise will be a great experience
for the young public as well.
Obviously, the cooperation between
the cruise line and the shipyard is crucial
in any ship-building project. But in ventures of this magnitude, one would think
that the partners have to be joined at the
hip for everything to work out. Luckily,
Messina reports that the collaboration
with Carnival Cruise Lines was “just outstanding”.
“We have a close relationship with
our customer and easy and open communication at all levels. That’s a key factor for
