Tallink´s Galaxy sailing from Rauma to Tallinn in April 2006. in spring 2007 from the yard in Helsinki is of a new and innovative design. She will start regular traffic between Helsinki and Tallinn and will be capable to cross the sea between the two cities in two hours. The ice class of the ferry will allow year-around operation. Besides 1,900 passengers, the 185 m long and 27.7 m wide vessel is designed to carry private cars and freight units by having more than two kilometres of vehicle deck space. The vessel was floated out on 23 November 2006 and named as “Star”. Aker Yards and the French company Brittany Ferries signed a contract in August, 2005 for the building of a trailer ropax for delivery in autumn 2007. The vessel to be named “Cotentin” is designed to carry road cargo vehicles between France and England at a speed of 23 knots. seatec 2007 11
