Perhaps the biggest new hit of last summer was this musical
gem from the team of Severin Behnen, Stevie Matier and
Bruce Burnside. "Belfast to Bluegrass" is a musical adventure of
jigs and ballads as they travel to the Appalachian Mountains by
way of a quarter of a million Scots Irish. Before the United States
was formed, the inhabitants were absorbing, merging and
transforming the ethnic sounds of its people. Hear the changes
in the traditional Celtic tunes as bluegrass and other genres
are being born of our traditional American musical culture.
Performed by the Blue Canvas Orchestra and special guests.

A Tribute to Pete Seeger
Join an all-star cast featuring Kevin Kling, Larry Long,
Prudence Johnson, Dan Chouinard and the Blue Canvas
Orchestra as they honor one of the world's most influential
folksingers, Pete Seeger, through song, spoken word, and
multi-media. Often called the father of American folk music,
Seeger was a major inspiration for generations, not only for
his music but also for social justice and environmental issues.
Expect to hear familiar tunes such as "Goodnight Irene," "If
I Had a Hammer," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," and
"Turn! Turn! Turn!" as well as writings by and about the great,
gentle man.
American R&B band Tower of Power is best known for
their driving horn section and their funky soul sound with
syncopated bass-guitar lines. Coming out of the San Francisco
Bay area in the late 60's, Tower of Power was one of the bands
that helped to define the "San Francisco Sound." Over the
years, the powerful horn section of the Tower has recorded
with hundreds of artists as diverse as Aerosmith, Elton John,
Little Feat, Phish, Santana and Heart, forever infusing the
radio airwaves with Tower's musical DNA.
