Group gave back to the community and held an Eat Wings Raise Funds ( EWRF ) event for the Somerville High School Chamber Choir . The two events collected over 100 receipts and attracted anywhere from 200 to 500 guests , raising over $ 600 for the group .
The choir was one of five finalists nominated for the Varsity Brand Spirit Award ’ s Choral Contest , which recognizes choirs that dedicate their time to their communities . The competition took place May 13 at Walt Disney World in Florida . The group was aiming to raise $ 18,000 to cover airfare prices .
Jason O ’ Toole , manager for the Buffalo Wild Wings ®, said it ’ s incredibly easy to set up an EWRF program with the restaurant .
“ Depending on what kind of program you ’ re raising funds for , we would need either a W9 form and / or proof that you ’ re a 501 ( c ) organization ,” said O ’ Toole . “ We take 15 percent of the bill and give it back to the organization . Typically , we host these events on a Monday ( not during football season ) or Wednesday .”
Karen Gorzynski , the group ’ s choral director , nominated the choir for the award during caroling season .
The group dedicates its time caroling and performing at tree-lighting events , assisted living centers , the Community Care Hospice Center and Rotary meetings . Every year , the group also spends a day singing and interacting with students of the Midland School Chorus . Midland is a school for children with developmental disabilities , and at the end of the day , the two groups perform as a combined choir .

AntSul Group Hosts EWRF for Somerville High School Chamber Choir

“ These kids have given tons of their time to the community ,” said Gorzynski . “ We would very much like to do this . They truly deserve to go . They don ’ t do all of these things to be rewarded , but it would be nice to show them that someone is noticing their good deeds and that someone wants to recognize them for this .” Brian Anderson , vice president of operations for AntSul Group , said Buffalo Wild Wings loves to give back to the surrounding community .
“ Somerville can literally be seen right out our front door ,” said Anderson . “ Without Somerville and the nearby communities , we wouldn ’ t be as successful as we are . Helping the students of Somerville High School is the least we can do to show how much we appreciate their support for us .” S

The group prepared 250 mild boneless wings , 250 Asian Zing boneless wings , mini corn dogs , soft pretzels and mini pulled pork sandwiches .
“ The biggest challenge was simply knowing how much food to bring ,” added Senkar . “ Since the event was very close to our restaurant , we were able to have more food brought to us after the first round was almost gone , which helped ensure we were serving a hot , fresh product , but the main success is that we got to donate our time to a great cause and help our community .”
In addition to the food and drinks , the event also had gift baskets that were raffled off and 50 / 50 tickets on sale . Between the event tickets and the additional fundraisers , the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce was able to raise over $ 6,100 , which provided three $ 2,000 scholarships to local high school students .
“ This is the second year that we have participated in the Taste of Brooklyn event , and this year the turnout was even bigger and we had even more fun ,” noted Senkar . “ We are always excited to be involved in Brooklyn Community events , and I am very proud of my team for handling the event so well on a busy Saturday night .” S
