Science Of The Shot Part 2 In our second half of the day on the ranges we turned to more modern guns. We conducted an experiment that looked at the variables involved in shooting. Specifically we looked to see the effects of dirty vs clean rifles and their effects upon accuracy. Daniel Smith, a certified engineer and NRA instructor designed the experiment. The methodology was to secure and site the rifle and determine if the cleanliness impacted the accuracy. A practical application to this experiment would determine how frequently a gun should be cleaned in order to remain proficient.
