STEM down under students are on top of the world (continued)
been able to achieve without the networking & mentoring before
& during the trip. There is no doubt in my mind that they will be
sending waves through their community that will wash over those
around them to allow aiming higher & realising we are part of the
Australian story regarding innovation & research.
Thank you so much … It has changed my life & the lives of the
rural students ... I have no doubt the fruits of what you have given
will be widespread & indelible. It will further increase the role of
rural students in the improvement of our world.”
Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi
No one could dispute that the Aussies were in town during the
ISEF week. The Australian presence was clearly evident right
from the outset at the Opening Ceremony. With 33 people in the
Young Scientist delegation and 12 people in the BHP Billiton/
CSIRO delegation, the Australians in the audience were very
noticeable and vocal. To add to this, the Keynote Speaker,
Professor Genevieve Bell is a well-known Australian who is the
Director of the 3A Institute at the Australian National University.
She was also an Intel Senior Fellow. We corresponded with her
before the event and provided her details that one of the BHP
Billiton/CSIRO team goes to Lyneham High School which was the
school she went to many years ago.
