STANSW Young Scientist Awards 2018 (continued)
5. 2018 STANSW YOUNG SCIENTIST PAPER
PLANES STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The STANSW Young Scientist Committee is also excited to
announce a major new sponsor for our ever-popular Paper Plane
Challenge. Helping Hands Network, which is part of the Junior
Adventures Group, will be sponsoring the 2018 event to be held
at the University of Sydney on August 25th. There will be medals
and cash prizes for the major category winners this year.
The school year is only one term old and so is my new role as
2018 Coordinator of the STANSW Young Scientist Awards. It is
an extremely exciting time to start this new role with the Young
Scientist program going from strength to strength.
Please do keep checking in on our website
www.youngscientist.com.au where we will post details of the
other exciting new developments we are continuing to work on.
You can also follow us on social media via our Facebook page
(STANSW Young Scientist) or on Twitter (@STANSW_YS).
Our largest-ever delegation of ten students and three teacher
chaperones represented both NSW and Australia at the Intel
International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Pittsburgh,
U.S.A in May. The amazing results demonstrate that the standard
of our students’ work continues to get better each year and we
are optimistic that this will continue, though it will be difficult to
match the 2018 result!
Nevertheless, we have a winning tradition at ISEF with over 50%
of our projects winning Grand Awards over the past 17 years that
we have sent teams to compete!
