Letter from the Editor
Hello everyone!
From our lead article on the relationship between
poetry and science to our dialogue piece on the art of
cancer drug discovery, the genetic surveillance of artist
Heather Dewey-Hagborg, and the anatomical body
paintings of artist Danny Quirk—this October we have a
delightfully eclectic issue. With the larger theme of science
communication via the creative arts as a common thread
among our artist features, we were thrilled to also be able
to touch upon the fun side of science in our profile on
Fun Exhibits and spotlight on the sciart of ice cream—a
fascinating and active field!
As SciArt in America continues to grow I never cease
to be touched by the increasing interest and enthusiasm
for the reconciliation of science and art—evidence that
we are truly living in important times. I would like to
thank everyone for your continued readership, kind
notes, and social media support. If you would like to show
your support further, I’m happy to announce you can
now become a monthly patron to help us remain a free
publication with ease.
I hope you enjoy this October’s issue, and take care.
Sincerely,
Julia Buntaine,
Founder & Editor-in-Chief
