ART & MEDICINE An open invitation to artists Past CDT cover images courtesy of CDT. Art and medicine overlap in many ways. The journal Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Therapy (CDT) invites artists to submit their artwork in the form of images to our feature column entitled “Art and Medicine.” We also encourage submission of manuscripts related to the role of art in medicine. Who are we? The journal CDT (Print ISSN: 2223-3652; Online ISSN: 2223-3660) is a bimonthly, open-access, peerreviewed medical journal that is published through the joint efforts from our editorial board members worldwide and our editorial offices based in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Our logo unveils this characteristic: a Chinese character “心”, which means the heart and also represents the organ, connects the blue venous and red arterial circulation. It symbolizes the function of the heart, the main focus of CDT, as well as the goal of building an international scientific platform. CDT is already indexed in PubMed, the search engine of the National Center for Biotechnology Information at the US National Library of Medicine, which enhances the visibility of articles published in CDT. What are our goals? Our primary goal is to promote rapid exchange of scientific information related to cardiovascular care between clinicians and scientists worldwide. We are working diligently on the dissemination platform, both for the print and online versions of the journal. This includes developing a central platform for our online presence, linked to a major website, such as MDLinx.com or Dxy.cn (the largest online academic portal for over 3 million Chinese physicians and life science professionals). We have also established webpages on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter (@Journal_CDT) and LinkedIn. SciArt in America October 2014 What’s “Art and Medicine”? “Art and Medicine” is a permanent special feature of CDT that emphasizes the significance of art in medical treatment among our readers and authors. Our Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Paul Schoenhagen, who works at the Cleveland Clinic, launched this special column at the birth of journal.
