As she explained to SciArt in America, groundbreaking innovations are more likely to occur in a lab with scientists from several different fields. With a wealth of knowledge in one field yet complete naiveté in others, one is able to ask unexpected questions that can lead to transcendent discoveries. As excited as Desjeux is about the potentiality of sciart, however, she simultaneously worries about it becoming an established discipline, observing that “once there are tracks to follow, originality disappears.” Isabelle Desjeux is a member of SciArt Center, an organization dedicated to bringing scientists and artists together for a common cause.
