Helping people Healthy Aspiring Prosperus Inclusive Hi, My name is Scott Tandy and I’ve got the best job in Newydd. Ive got the best job becuase part of my role is to lead youth work, this means that I get to support youths to develop themselves in what I think are three key areas: Physical activity, Skill and Volunteering. To help get young people more active and into sport I help out at Cardiff City Foundation, Hawthorn Kicks project every Thursday afternoon for ages 14 – 19 years, 5pm – 6:30pm on Hawthorn High School AstroTurf. One of the projects I run, which helps youths gain more skills, is our Woodwork project. This is also run at the Ilan Centre every Tuesday afternoon 4pm – 6pm and looks to use old wooden materials to create windowsill box’s, plant pots, tables, chairs and much more. The money we raise from selling the items allows the youths to go away on regular trips J Volunteering is very important; therefore youths regularly volunteer time on my projects to help gain confidence and first hand work experience.
