Animals There are 51 different species of monkey. Around Christmas time, as the weather gets colder, monkeys grow thicker fur coats and the all huddle together to keep warm. So what’s the difference between a monkey and an ape? Monkey’s are quite small and have a tail around a foot long. Apes, like gorillas, are a lot bigger and don’t have tails. Monkeys Monkey’s and apes only eat healthy foods like apples, potatoes, bananas (of course!), berries, beech nuts, acorns, seeds and walnuts. Really it’s like Christmas every day for them! By Amy Beautiful Beasts Snow leopards are an endangered species. These large cats live in Central and Northern America but now there aren’t many left. Penguins are flightless birds that are found in the Antarctic. They are flightless birds because over millions of years their wings have evolved into flippers. They eat krill, fish and squid that they catch as they swim under the water. Emperor penguins are the largest type of penguin, they are about a meter tall.
