Josh: My uncle bought me White Zombie Volume 1 when I was a kid it was a whole new experience. He also introduced me to Nine Inch Nails and TOOL and my musical voyage was on. Dave: My father introduced me to Hendrix, AC/ DC, Aerosmith, and stuff like that at a very young age so he certainly gets credit for my love of rock and roll. Guitar, playingwise, I feel I’ve taken most of my cues from the melody of Brian May and the aggressive riff stylings of Dimebag Darrel. But that’s just scratching the surface. Stephen: My biggest musical influence was John Bonham. there are numerous others that have given me inspiration to play; but I always seem to come back to him when I am writing my parts. Jeremy: Korn. Pretty much the band that got me into metal/rock. Growing up I was more into hip hop. Then one day saw this video for Shoots and Ladders on a channel called the box which was on satellite back in the early 90s. I was instantly hooked. Then seeing their dvd deuce…..seeing how down to earth those guys really are. Never becoming bigger than the music. Remembering where they came from, and they are friends…. family. it’s a lot like being in this band. As a band do you guys have a favorite place to play? What makes it your favorite? I think we all agree that Blind Tiger and SWET are our favorite places to play. Blind Tiger because the sound is so good and we’re always treated well, and SWET because they are a staple in the scene and we love Burley and the whole crew there. Jeremy: Blind tiger….great sound. Big stage. Somewhere Else Tavern……just the staple that it is and the opportunities they have given us. Let’s get everyone’s opinion on this. If someone ask you for advice about being in a band or about starting one, what would you say? Would you encourage or discourage them? Josh: Music is an outlet, it gets in your blood, it takes over your soul. If you love music then no one can discourage you from it. You may be really bad at it at first, I was really bad at it for a long time and people told me, but it isn’t about what people think it’s about how you feel and how it makes you feel. And if you keep doing it long enough, and play from your soul then people will notice and people will want to be a part of it. Dave: I would never discourage anyone from playing music of any fashion. You have to do it because you love doing it not because you believe it will bring you Page 8 fame and fortune. And be persistent. The more you play the better you will get but if you don’t love it with every ounce of your being you’re already setting yourself up for failure. Stephen: I would definatley encourage them to start one up. I would strongly suggest to find your own niche though. A lot a bands try hard to sound like the bands they love. We already have that band; do your own thing and make your mark! Jeremy: Encourage. People always want to define a band as “making it”. I think that discourages some bands as they don’t even know what their own definition is of “making it” personally I feel it means getting your music heard. I’d love to make a living from all of this……its part of what drives us I think, but at the end of the day, when its all said and done, if people have heard our music and love what we did…..that is in some way making it. So get out there……make some music. There is all kinds of people out there with different taste, Im sure you can find your niche What are some of your likes and dislikes about being in a band? Josh: Likes; creating songs, performing, meeting people. Dislikes; playing with egotistical bands who think they are too good for everyone, and balancing relationships with kids and family definitely pulls you in different directions. Dave: I love playing in a band with three of the best friends I’ve ever had. We truly are like family and that alone makes it hard not to like anything about it. However, it can be very demanding with the hours you have to
