rible shows. If there is anything that we would want to
change in our scene, it would be that more people who
are not in bands should consistently attend shows more
often because there are several shows where it’s bands
playing to the other bands.
Where do you see this
band in a year or two? Do
you guys, as a band have
any goals you want to
reach this year?
We want to put out
a full length album within the next year, but it is
tentatively due during
the Summer. Who knows
what could happen in
two years? We could have
our second full length album out. We can probably imagine ourselves starting to go on more extensive
tours that bring us to the west coast of the United States
because we want to play Los Angeles and we want to
play Mexico City.
If you were asked to describe your band’s sound or
who you sound like, what would you say?
We sound like a thrash metal band with heavy
hardcore punk influences. Our biggest influences would
probably include Exodus, Anthrax, Megadeth, Leeway,
Slayer, The Cro-Mags, Kreator, Demolition Hammer,
Suicidal Tendencies, DRI, Whiplash, and Madball.
Who would you guys say was the biggest musical
or non-musical influence on each of you? And why?
Jon Plemenik’s main musical influence is Dave
Mustaine from Megadeth. His biggest non-musical
influence was his hard upbringing that influences our
lyrics.
As a band do you guys have a favorite place to
play? What makes it your favorite?
Our favorite place that we have played so far was
The Saint Vitus Bar out in the Greenpoint neighborhood
of Brooklyn, NY. The people who run the venue are really nice and treat the bands extremely well. The venue
always manages to attract a decent crowd. When we
played a show back in September 2014 that was booked
almost last minute, there were still a lot of people who
came out to the show. When we played there the three
times we did, we always got a great crowd reaction and
made a bunch of new fans. The bills that they book are
also really amazing. We hope to be back there soon.
If someone ask you for advice about being in
a band or about starting one, what would you say?
Would you encourage or discourage them?
We would definitely encourage people to start a
band. As frustrating as it is, playing music is what we
enjoy doing the most. There are definitely some things
everybody needs to know so that they don’t make bad
mistakes. The one thing is to be very skeptical about
everything that comes your way. In other words, don’t
trust everything that anybody says. The next thing too
is to not be impulsive with
major band decisions because you could wind up
recruiting band members
that you were thinking
were a mistake since day
one. We had this horrible
experience twice in 2014.
Make sure that there is a
chemistry amongst all of
your band members. Also,
you need to make sure to
work very very very hard
because it takes a lot of
effort in order to get anywhere.
What are some of your likes and dislikes about being in a band?
Jon really likes playing his music on stage. The
main dislikes of being in the band is having to go on the
really long car rides to get to certain shows. We are in
Northwest New Jersey, so we often have to travel far to
get to shows.
main careers that gets us our money because we love
playing music, but we know that there is a very large
chance that we will probably never get a recording contract. A lot of it is probably due to the band only being
ages 14-16. And that’s okay because we know bands like
Lich King who are unsigned and still manage to do very
well. As long as we are able to continue playing shows
and put out music, we really don’t care if we become a
signed band or not. It would be nice, but being signed is
not why we are out there playing music.
How do you balance your music with other obligations like school, work, or girlfriend?
We are not really good at that kind of balancing because we care more about the music than school. We
really need to work on that!
So that’s about it any last words?
Thank you for having us for the interview, Sceneazine! We would like to thank all of suporters from
around the world for their continued support of our b
and. Keep paying attention to our page at www.facebook.com/paralysisnj because we will probably be releasing our full length album tentatively this Summer
and have a tour based on it!
Who have guys
shared a stage with? Any
national acts?
We have shared the
stage with 40 Below Summer, Diecast, Toxic Holocaust, Generation Kill,
Lich King, Exmortus,
Toxik (x3), Black Tide,
Threat Signal, Hatchet, October 31, Soulfly,
Vektor, Blood Feast, Onslaught, Artillery, Sworn
Enemy, and Brick By
Brick. In the upcoming
months, we are going to
be sharing the stage with
D.R.I. and Whiplash.
Most bands dream
of making it big or getting signed. Do you guys
have that dream or do
you care if you get a recording contract?
We have the dream of
securing a recording contract because we would
love to make this our
