Sceneazine.com Who in the band came up with your name? What, if any, reason did you guys choose it? Does it have a meaning behind it or does it stand for something? Our lead vocalist/ rhythm guitarist, Jon Plemenik, has came up with the band’s name a little after he founded the band. Jon wanted to pick a name that would mirror the intensity of the music that he wanted to play. It really does not have any kind of special meaning to it, but there are a lot of people who like the name. Plus, we wanted a name that was easy for everyone to remember. Diecast, Toxic Holocaust, Generation Kill, Exmortus, Lich King, and Toxik. As of right now, Paralysis still continues to remain active by playing numerous live shows every month and they are planning to release their first studio EP named No Turning Back in Early Spring 2014. Let’s introduce the band. Who are the members and what instruments do they play? 1.)Jon Plemenik: Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar/ Founder Charlie Hudzik: Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals Nick Musto: Drums Rhett Mattson: Lead Guitar Assume that the readers have never heard of your band. What do you want them to get from this interview? In this interview, we want readers to reach a better understanding of what we are all about and what our music is like. So how long have you guys been playing in this band? Is this everyone’s first band they’ve played in or have they played others we may of heard of? This band is Jon and Rhett’s first bands. Our drummer Nick was formerly in another band called False Dementia. Our bass player has jammed with people in the past, but nothing came out of it. Page 16 Is there one person who writes all the songs or do you guys write as a band? Jon Plemenik handles the majority of songwriting duties. Rhett wrote a couple of songs, but Rhett has not written any songs completely by himself because Jon usually needs to help work on some of the finer aspects of the songs with regard to arrangement and getting it to work. Jon writes all of the lyrics. Where do you guys usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is you guy’s usual songwriting process? The inspiration to write songs just comes from a mixture of creating songs that we like and would want to listen to and somethin that other people would really like and want to mosh to in a crowd. We really love creating songs that create a lot of energy in a live environment. Songs usually start out being written on the guitar and comes in usually completed. Afterward, we would jam on it with drums. Sometimes, certain sections of songs may not work or fit, so we wind up having to change parts around sometimes. If someone wanted to hear your music where could they find it? Do you have a Soundcloud or ReverbNation account? We prefer that people go to our YouTube account to listen to our music. People are able to find that account at www.youtube.com/paralysisnj. We also have a Soundcloud account that we also upload songs to, which is at www.soundcloud.com/paralysisnj. We do have a Reverbnation account too, but we use this account less than the others: www.reverbnation.com/paralysisnj. If fans want to keep themselves informed about our endeavors, then they should stay connected to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/paralysisnj. Speaking of social media sites, do you think that online presence like Facebook or Twitter are important for a band? Do you guys use any? Social media is something that we constantly utilize as a band. In the present day, basically everyone in society uses social media. So, it is going to be the main and best way to be able to keep people informed about our shows, upcoming album, and new merchandise. Even though social media is so important, it should not be the be-all-end-all in getting the word out for bands. It is also important to do in-person promoting at shows with business cards and show posters. We have Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Do you guys play out much? Do only play locally or do you get to tour much? We play an average of 2-4 shows a month. We play locally in our own state of New Jersey. We have managed to play every single region of New Jersey already. We also have expanded recently because we have been playing several shows in different regions of New York, such as New York City, Long Island, and Poughkeepsie. We do plan to do a mini east coast tour this summer if everything goes according to plan. We do plan to do a more extended United States tour in the Summer of 2016 in order to support our upcoming first full length album. What’s your opinion of your music scene? And what would you like to see change if anything? The shows in our scenes are really inconsistent with attendance. The attendance of a show really hinges upon the right combination of bands being on the bill. Unfortunately, there are some promoters who do not pay attention to the scene and put together mismatched bills that wind up not drawing anybody or keeping the crowd numbers consistent throughout the night. We have played great shows and we have also [YY܋B
