5 Circa Survive – Cat’s Cradle, Carrboro, NC by Heather come closer. As crowd surfers came over the barricade, he would ruffle their hair or shake their hands. He jumped on the barricade and held hands with fans as he sang to them, every bit as invested in engaging the fans as they were invested in seeing the band perform. T irca Survive fans showed up early to pack out Cat’s Cradle, stretching, moving around, and getting ready for a high-energy show. Little did they know that they were in for not one but two tremendously energetic sets that night. hey went on to play Living Together, Birth of the Economic Hit Man, Suitcase, and The Greatest Lie. During Glass Arrows Anthony handed the mic to a fan in the first row that just picked up the song and continued singing, while Anthony leapt into the crowd to do some surfing himself. The trust and respect that this band has for its fans was abundantly clear throughout the set, and made for an amazing experience. N W C ot a lot of attendees were familiar with Ume before their set, but by the time they were done this band earned a lot of new fans. From the minute she took the stage, Lauren Larson completely dominated it. Wielding her guitar like a weapon, she attacked every song with an intensity that left a lasting impression on the crowd. U me played through Too Big World, Embrace, Until the End, and Chase It Down from their current album, Monuments along with several other songs. Their set was well balanced and included everything from shred-heavy, up-tempo, head banging rock to more delicate, artistic songs. Not only is Lauren Larson an epic guitarist, but she delivered crisp, powerful vocals that drew the crowd in. This is definitely a band to watch. W ith a fresh burst of energy, Circa Survive took the stage, and everyone was instantly mesmerized by Anthony Green. Throughout the entire set, he interacted with the crowd on a friendly level bordering on intimacy. In between songs, he kept saying, “Come to me,” while beckoning the crowd to hile Lauren Larson’s impressive display of guitar expertise and brilliant vocals with Ume warmed the crowd up and set the bar incredibly high, Circa Survive was able to bring things to another level thanks with great music and Anthony Green’s incredible level of engagement with the crowd. This was a tremendous night of music, and this is a must see tour.
