Sceneazine.com Music Time: Faith & Scars by Jesse Wilson I got to talk to rock band Faith & Scars from Raleigh, North Carolina which includes: Alyse Zavala doing the lead vocals, Roger Liverman playing guitar and vocals , Matthew Faircloth slapping the bass guitar, Mike Atticus shredding the guitar and Aaron Baker pounding the drums. Starting it off with a fun question I asked who would win in a fist fight in the band and Roger says, “I really hope we never have to find out, but I’m 90% sure Alyse would wipe the floor with us.” When asked where the band name came from Aaron adds in, “Whenever you burn Page 12 yourself with Ramen noodles, it leaves behind scars that you will always remember. But you will always have Faith in the next bowl you make. Never give up.” I sure will remember that the next time! The band listens to all genres of rock music, anything from Paramore and Fall Out Boy to August Burns Red and Megadeth. Although, Aaron says he is a big One Direction fan though. I hope he was just kidding. Besides playing shows and recording in a studio, they like to do normal things also like reading, traveling, and being with friends. On a more serious side, if F&S sees any negative comments about them they just ignore and stay positive; As a band should do. One may ask If I am new to the band why do I need to see Faith & Scars? Alyse comments, “ If you want a lot of stage energy, original music, lyrics with depth and meaning, badass guitar solos, and a band that plays their heart out every show, then Faith & Scars is for you and we can’t wait to see you there!” Finally, they would like to make some announcements. They will be playing a lot of shows in the very near future. Their biggest show to date will be Aug 2 at Ziggy’s in Winston-Salem. F&S will be opening for Blameshift and Fit For Rivals, both have which have been playing on Warped tour. We are also going in the studio this week to record the last two songs for our first EP, Edge of Fate, which we hope to release on Aug. 30! continue from page 9-FTA tell them? What makes you different from any other band? The biggest thing is that we genuinely love what we do. We put it all out there on stage every single time we play. It doesn’t matter how many people are there we give it everything we have every single night we play. We want to make sure you get your money’s worth. You paid for entertainment...we’re going to entertain you both visually and audibly. Not to mention we like to make our fans part of the show. Come out, we’ll dance with you, teach you some sing along parts, maybe throw some confetti and get everyone all messy, I heard silly string was going to make an appearance soon...basically we’re down for anything and love to have a good time! How do you feel about your local music scene? What would you like to see change? The local music scene has been on a roller coaster ride lately. Some of the hands down best bands from Charlotte have recently split up. It’s always sad when you see bands that have been together for years split up. You come to know them, love them, support them, follow them, witness their struggles and their successes which make it that much worse when they decide to go separate ways. One thing I will say is that the scene is pretty supportive and tight. We all help each other out as much as we can. It’s all about helping each other out and trying to get everyone to that “next level” As we finish this interview is there anything you would like to add? We just want to take a second to thank Sceneazine for having us do this interview. We appreciate the support and exposure. We would also like to thank our friends, family, significant others, fans, promoters, booking agents, venues, bands, radio stations, etc that have supported us over the years. Without you guys none of what we have or will accomplish would be possible. If you have never heard these guys go check them out at their website or facebook page. These guys are awesome and headed for the top. Go catch them so one day you can brag that you knew them back when. www.FallingThroughApril.com
