lotte, NC. The owner, John Hayes, is an awesome guy.
Seriously love that guy. They have great sound and a
good stage. Always fair to the bands. We’ve never had a
bad show at Tremont.
Let’s get everyone’s opinion on this. If someone ask
you for advice about being in a band or about starting
one, what would you say? Would you encourage or discourage them?
I’d just tell them how it is. There’s no money in rock
music, if you’re wanting to play legit original music. You
have to do this because you love it, and as a labor of love.
If you do that, you’ll have fun and make friends along

otherwise they’d be homeless. It’s gotten that bad. Thank
the record labels, Napster, and all of the sell-out bands
that went along with it. If they tell me they want to start
a tribute band or a cover band, I’ll promptly instruct
them to go break their favorite CD and gouge out their

cover bands. They’re the bane of my existence. They’re
in the same category as that idiot Michael Bay and all of
his lame-ass movie remakes.
What are some of your likes and dislikes about being in a band?
I like randomly having sex. A lot. Like, seriously.
I also enjoy seeing people mouthing the words to my
songs in the audience, or having that “a-ha” moment
when they connect to something I’ve said or written. I
