Q Jones: I know you have been singing since you were 4 in a Baptist Church, but who or what made you get into singing?

Gwen Majors: Singing has always been a natural calling for me. There was no catalyst that made me decide. It just was destined by the higher power. I have always been an artist. It’s in my make up.

Q Jones: Tell our readers who is “Gwen Majors” (family and public eye)?

Gwen Majors: Just a simple but complex individual who loves to love and be loved, laid back but feisty, strong but giving, cool but full of fire, loyal but disconnected, just your normal but crazy kind of chic.

Q Jones: What are your inspirations in life?

Gwen Majors: To have my music be heard and make a difference in people’s lives, bring back love and meaningful relationships. That is why I sing. I want to leave a legacy that my grand kids will be proud of and tell everybody, “That’s my Nana!!”

Q Jones: What things have you learned about life from being a celebrity?

Gwen Majors: That you cannot count on your “friends” for support. You must reach out beyond all boundaries and connect with the universe to be successful.

Q Jones: What projects you are currently working on?

Gwen Majors: First and foremost, we are filming the video for my current release entitled, ‘Ol School Love’ which will be released June 1. We are also promoting an incomparable compilation project entitled “Campaign of Love” created by the awesome Skip Reeves which contains my duet with the Emperor of Soul, Ali Woodson; which was his last and final recording. It also features 26 other amazing indie artists, and the iconic Irene Cara. I am so very excited to be a part of this project. Skip is currently working on live performances.

Q Jones: Which celebrities were your most influential when growing up? ANSWER: Without a doubt, Aretha Franklin and everything Motown.
